KNOW is a perfect tool for you. Isn't it worth $30 to spend 30 minutes talking to your teen about something that could save their life? Communication is the key to keeping kids away from drugs. Buy KNOW, as a conversation starter, deterrent, and a way to KNOW if your child is using drugs. For more information, go to the KNOW website at www.knownodrugtest.com.
- KNOW is the brainchild of Douglas Chinchar, a drug testing specialist who has worked in the field of “on the job” safety for many years. Chinchar knows that “at home" safety is just as important as what he was preventing on the jobsite.
- Chinchar not only is part of one of the most successful drug testing companies in the Southeastern United States, S-1 Safety 1st, but he has also dealt with kids and teenagers, both as a father and as a coach for 18 years.
- In his coaching world, Chinchar sees and hears it all. “I could not believe that kids would talk about drugs and alcohol so freely. And I was shocked at how drug and alcohol usage quickly turned into sex and other issues,” Chinchar said. He decided to do something about it.
- “I got tired of hearing parents say ‘Not my kid’ and then, after something horrible happened to their child, hearing that same parent say, "If only I had talked with my kid.’” Chinchar said. “So I decided to develop a home drug test that would help parents talk to their kids about drugs.”
- Many years ago, Chinchar also learned first hand the damage that drugs and alcohol can cause. Chinchar had his promising athletic career cut short when he was severely injured by a 15 year old drunk driver, causing Chinchar to have career ending back surgery.
- Given this experience, and the life changing birth of his first daughter, Chinchar knew that KNOW must be created and made available to parents around the country. He also knew it must be easy to use, affordable, and have a unique way of acting as a deterrent. “My idea was to add a magnet to the KNOW box, so parents would put the test right on the refrigerator, where it acts as a deterrent, and a conversation starter, every single day.”
- Chinchar put together a team of professionals in both the drug testing world and the real world of parenting, to develop this unique deterrent. Chinchar’s goal is to have KNOW on every refrigerator of every household with children. “If that happens I KNOW that parents and kids are talking about drugs. I KNOW that more kids will be saying NO to drugs!"
